 1) Lysosomes break down and digest food particles in a cell. They also help the cell defend itself from pathogens by forming a complex along with the pathogen, called phagosome. They also aid in recycling proteins and digest worn-out cells. Hence, they are called 'suicide bags of cells'.


2) White blood cells or leukocytes (WBCs) in the human body can change shape. This helps them move in between cells to reach infected areas. The ability to change shape also plays a role in providing immunity by fighting the pathogens entering the body.


3) Smooth ER helps the cell to manufacture fat molecules called lipids. They are devoid of ribosomes and hence are called smooth ER.
