Agriculture some important points............BCDP

 1) Brazil is the leading producer of coffee in the world. 

2) Rice is the major food crop of the world and it is the staple diet of the tropical and 

sub-tropical regions.

3) Growing of vegetables, flowers and fruits for commercial use is known as 

Horticulture. 

4) Shifting cultivation is also known as ‘slash and burn’ agriculture.

5) Nomadic herding is practiced in the semi-arid and arid regions of Sahara, Central 

Asia and some parts of India, like Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir.

6) Intensive subsistence agriculture farmer cultivates a small plot of land using 

simple tools and more labor. 

7) Shifting cultivation is practiced in the thickly forested areas of Amazon basin, 

tropical Africa, parts of Southeast Asia and Northeast India. 

8) Commercial grain farming is practiced in the areas of temperate grasslands of 

North America, Europe, and Asia. 

9) Mixed farming is practiced in Europe, eastern USA, Argentina, southeast Australia, 

New Zealand and South Africa.

10) Maize requires moderate temperature, rainfall, and lots of sunshine.

11) Millets need low rainfall and high to moderate temperature and adequate rainfall.

12) Jute grows well on alluvial soil and requires high temperature, heavy rainfall, and humid climate. 

13) Cotton requires high temperature, light rainfall, two hundred and ten frost-free days and bright sunshine for its growth.
